Monkey Puzzle Astwick knows that our staff team is our greatest resource. Every day they offer outstanding love, care and attention to our children. They show a real passion for what they deliver to our children and take enormous pride in what they do. When filling vacant job roles, our policy is to always recruit and/or promote internally where possible.

We want to offer exciting and diverse careers to all staff that are seeking them. Whatever your goals are within our internal teams or your personal career, we will assist you in achieving that goal and progressing even further.

As an owner and Manager who has worked from an apprentice, right up to a Nursery Manager and NHS Nursery Nurse in mental health, I know you can have the most beautiful setting but it is nothing without an amazingly passionate and caring team. Part of my role is recruiting and keeping that team happy and balanced and I do that by becoming a friend to my staff and knowing how I can support them both professionally and personally. They know they can come to us and we will try our utmost to help if they need us.

We provide healthcare and mental health wellbeing, encourage and fund further professional development from apprentices right upto degree level and of course any other courses that will benefit them and the nursery. As such our team consistenly grows and develops the skills they have and we push them to be the very best that they can be within their chosen career. Many of our staff who have received additional training have been promoted through our positions, as well as taking lead roles, such as Forest School Leader, Outside Learning Lead, SENCO, PANDCO, Mental Health Coordination, and our Language Champion.

We also provide additional training to the whole team on inset days twice a year and recently did sign language and outdoor first aid on these. We also take our staff on paid team bonding events and have gatherings to promote bonding and a work community so we all feel valued. We have little gifts such as breakfast stations, cheer up chocolate day and staff appreciation gifts and awards to remind them how important they are and lift their spirits.

The staff in our nursery work in a variety of roles, with lots of opportunities for progression. These include:

  • Nursery Manager
  • Deputy Manager
  • Third in Charge
  • Room Leaders
  • Nursery Practitioners
  • Nursery Apprentices

We also offer our staff access to a range of training routes to ensure they stay up to date with the latest guidance for care within our nurseries at all levels of staff, continuing to help them progress in their careers and build on their skills.

We believe in working alongside each other to create our very own Monkey Puzzle family. Monkey Puzzle Astwick is a fabulous place to work where your opinion, thoughts and special touch is what matters most and you will be generously rewarded for your capabilities, loyalty and dedication.
