At Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery Astwick, between the ages of 16 months and 24 months old, children are welcomed into and enjoy a space in Dasies that matches their inquisitiveness as they begin to explore the world around them.

In Daisies the children are at such a special stage of early development. We are committed to providing a nurturing environment where the children experience garden play, rich sensory experiences, messy play, loving relationships and lots of playful learning.

This room at Monkey Puzzle Astwick focuses on building secure attachments through consistent routines and strong key person support, helping children feel safe and confident as they explore and learn. Turn taking is encouraged through simple games and outdoor obstacle courses, while physical development is supported with climbing activities, sports games in the field, walks around the farm and trips to the local park.

Communication and language are prioritised throughout the day, from everyday routines and exciting play experiences to singing, circle time, sharing picture books and listening to the sounds of nature in our beautiful surroundings. Children are gently guided to understand and self-regulate their emotions from an early age, alongside developing motor skills through sensory and messy play, creative activities using tools and hands, gardening and water play.

Daily exploration of the world around them includes observing insects and worms, visiting the horses, and experiencing the sights, smells and textures of nature and herbs grown nearby.

Our predictable routines, with flexibility for the weather and children’s interests, ensure each child always has a key worker close by so they can explore safely and confidently.
